Cyera Acquires Oasis Security for $1bn to Secure AI Agents
July 29, 2026 – 5:56 pm
Cyera, a data-security firm, has agreed to acquire Oasis Security for approximately $1bn, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. This cash-and-stock deal involves around $700m in cash and is expected to close later this year.
Cyera’s Acquisition Focus:
Cyera aims to govern "non-human identities"—the accounts AI agents use to access company data. By combining Cyera’s data expertise with Oasis’s non-human identity governance, they aim to create a unified system that determines access rights for humans, machines, and AI agents.
The rapid growth of AI agents inside enterprises, increasing by nearly 500% in six months, highlights the need for specialized security measures.
A Scramble for AI Agent Security
This acquisition is the largest yet in a bustling market to secure AI agents, following significant investments from players like Neo and NeuralTrust. Oasis, founded only in 2022, claims to be the fastest cybersecurity company to reach a $1bn valuation.
The Investment and Growth
Cyera’s recent funding rounds have been substantial, raising $600m in June at a $12bn valuation and approximately $2.3bn total. This acquisition is their fifth in recent months, including Genie Security, Ryft, Trail Security, and others.
However, the challenge lies in the unproven mass arrival of AI agents. Cyera’s thesis relies on millions of agents that have yet to materialize, and the success of this investment hinges on their eventual widespread implementation.
