CloudNC Secures $20M to Expand AI Machining Tools and Launch Quoting Product
CloudNC has raised $20 million to accelerate its AI-driven machining software and launch a new quoting tool. The London-based company, which already has over 1,000 machine shops using its CAM Assist software, is now focusing on the quoting process, a critical but often overlooked step in precision manufacturing.
Theo Saville, CloudNC’s CEO and co-founder, emphasizes the importance of addressing this bottleneck: "Quoting is one of the biggest hidden bottlenecks in precision machining."
The new product, Quote Agent, aims to streamline the quoting process, enabling shops to provide faster and more accurate price estimates, increasing their chances of securing jobs.
This funding round, led by Nimble Ventures, also includes Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First, and LM Ventures (Lockheed Martin’s venture arm). The funds will be allocated for commercial expansion and product development.
CloudNC’s Approach:
- CAM Assist: Their current product automates the conversion of part designs into machining strategies, saving machinists time and effort.
- Quote Agent: The upcoming product tackles the pre-machining quoting process, which often leads to lost opportunities or inaccurate pricing.
Unique Selling Point:
CloudNC differentiates itself by manufacturing its own software, ensuring their tools are thoroughly tested in real-world scenarios. This hands-on approach, combined with strategic partnerships, positions them well in the precision machining industry.
Notable Omissions:
The announcement lacks a traditional funding round letter, valuation details, and total capital raised. Instead, it focuses on the product and its potential impact on the industry, suggesting a bridge to commercial scale rather than a significant valuation shift.
