ElevenLabs Hires OpenAI’s Ashley Kramer as First Chief Revenue Officer

ElevenLabs has hired Ashley Kramer, formerly vice president of enterprise sales at OpenAI, as its first chief revenue officer, as more than half of its revenue shifts to enterprise customers. Its core product falls under the AI Act’s synthetic content marking rules, which give systems already on the market until 2 December 2026 to comply.

Kramer’s appointment is notable due to the shift in customer base, with enterprise customers now accounting for over half of revenue, up from 40% last year. Mati Staniszewski, CEO of ElevenLabs, described this as an "inflection point." Kramer, who has also worked at GitLab, Oracle, and NASA, brings significant experience in sales and technology.

The company, with its European roots (founded by two Poles, headquartered in London, and an $11M stake taken by the Polish government this year), has seen its scale grow significantly. It reported crossing $600M in annualised revenue in July, with notable customers including Deutsche Telekom, Revolut, Meta, and Stripe. Its valuation has doubled in seven months, with talks for a tender offer at roughly $22B, against $11B in February.

Kramer’s arrival is particularly significant as she joins ahead of the European deadline for synthetic audio marking. Article 50 of the AI Act requires providers to mark outputs in a machine-readable format, with systems already on the market having until 2 December 2026. ElevenLabs’ voice models predate this rule.

The enterprise push comes with a reputation for demanding sales targets and long hours, as reported by TNW. Kramer, however, states that her decision was made before the recent churn at OpenAI, where the chief revenue officer, chief operating officer, and applications head all left in recent weeks.

In summary, a European company is securing American enterprise sales leadership, three months before its own outputs will need to carry a mark that European law can read.
