For most of the generative-AI era, Getty Images has been an industry courtroom opponent, suing those building image generators rather than licensing from them.
On Monday, however, Getty changed sides, and the market responded positively to this strategic shift. Typically, stock photos don’t see such dramatic moves, but this pivot was rewarded accordingly.
