Google says Gemini 4 Argon is a ‘powerhouse’ AI model, and anyone can pay for it

Google Releases Gemini 4 Argon AI Model Globally, Accessible to Anyone with a Payment

Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Argon as a powerful AI model, available globally to paying users through the Gemini app, Search, and API. The initial pricing is a launch discount, with tokens costing $2 and $10 per million for input and output, respectively, compared to the standard rates of $4 and $20.

The model was initially provided to a select group of cyber defenders without guardrails through a program called Fairwind, and this group is now expanding to include hundreds of partners.

Tulsee Doshi, Gemini product lead at Google DeepMind, describes it as a "powerhouse" and the first in a new family of AI models.

Argon excels in various tasks, including:

  • Ranking first on the Vals Index for finance, coding, legal, and tax work.
  • Uncovering a bypass in healthcare software that exposed a master key, as demonstrated by Wiz.
  • Achieving impressive results in internal testing, with prompt injection attacks succeeding only 0.7% of the time.

Google's internal gains include:

  • A 35% increase in successful agentic code submissions with Antigravity.
  • A 30% reduction in rollbacks and a significant speedup in Chrome refactorings.

The model has also made notable scientific contributions, such as helping to disprove a 1967 conjecture about fusion reactor magnetic fields and teaching a humanoid to play cornhole by watching a video.

However, access to Antigravity, the tool behind these results, requires an Ultra subscription starting at $99.99 per month, which is not included in the $19.99 Pro tier.
