Meta Debuts Muse Image: Its First AI Image Model
Meta launched Muse Image, its first image-generation AI model developed under Alexandr Wang’s Superintelligence Labs division. The model allows users to:
- Generate images from text prompts.
- Alter existing pictures.
- Create images featuring friends based on their public Instagram posts.
The model is rolling out in the Meta AI chatbot and will be integrated across Instagram and WhatsApp. Users can opt-out of content reuse through settings menu, with all generated images including invisible watermarks and safety precautions against violating terms of service.
Advertisers will gain access soon for marketing materials. This comes after Muse Spark, Meta’s first large language model launched in April.
Meta aims to monetize its AI models via cloud offerings, allowing them to leverage their data centers and expensive AI chips. Despite recent job cuts and infrastructure partnerships with CoreWeave, Google, and Oracle, Meta is intensifying its focus on AI to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic across all modalities.
