Norrsken and Nvidia to Open Stockholm AI Lab for Founders in 2027
Norrsken Foundation and Nvidia will open a hub for AI startups in central Stockholm in 2027. The Stockholm AI Lab will host a select group of European founders using AI to tackle climate, health, food, and societal issues, and it will also house Nvidia’s Stockholm office.
Location and Design
The lab will occupy a 1910 building at Birger Jarlsgatan 37, approximately 200 meters from Norrsken House Stockholm, the foundation’s initial hub and global headquarters. This will be Norrsken’s second site in the city, and founders can already apply for membership.
Background and Goals
This initiative follows a commitment Norrsken made in June 2025 to set aside €300 million for an AI fund to support European startups utilizing AI for social and environmental benefits. This program is now known as Prompt What Matters.
Niklas Adalberth, the Klarna co-founder who established Norrsken in 2016, expressed the need for a physical space for these founders: "What these founders need now is what every great movement needs: a place."
Technological Support
Nvidia, the lab’s founding technology partner, will contribute AI computing power, developer tools for robotics, simulation, and life sciences, as well as access to their Inception startup program.
Demo Lab and Partnerships
On the ground floor, Nvidia and Root Bio (a Norrsken portfolio company formerly known as Agteria) will operate a demo lab. Root Bio employs AI to design molecules that address environmental challenges, such as greenhouse gas emissions.
Later, demo partnerships will be formed in robotics, climate, health, and manufacturing. The lab will also feature private offices for startups, a lounge for members, and a regular event schedule.
Stockholm’s AI Ecosystem
Norrsken highlights that Stockholm is already witnessing the growth of prominent AI companies, including Legora, Lovable, Sana (now part of Workday), and Einride, a Norrsken VC portfolio company that went public on Nasdaq in June at a $1.35 billion valuation.
Norrsken operates houses in Barcelona, Kigali, Brussels, and Amsterdam, and its five funds have raised over $1 billion.
