Nvidia-backed Zankore Secures $3.1 Billion Loan for GPU Purchase in Indonesia
Five banks have lent a newly formed company, Zankore, up to $3.1 billion to buy and deploy Nvidia GPUs across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Zankore, backed by Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Nokia, and Nvidia (read more here), plans to start with 100MW of Nvidia infrastructure in Indonesia, expanding to 200MW by mid-2027 and eventually reaching 1GW over three years.
Nvidia’s Role:
Nvidia not only has a stake in Zankore but also supplies the GPUs that Zankore will purchase with the loan funds. This is part of Nvidia’s larger strategy to bring outside capital into AI infrastructure projects, as reported by TNW previously.
Financing Structure:
The financing includes revenue-sharing and credit support arrangements tied to customer demand. While unusual, this structure isn’t inherently problematic, but it does mean that some of Nvidia’s demand is now financed through other companies’ balance sheets. The risk of the AI infrastructure buildout is shared among these lenders.
Regional Significance:
Indonesia is becoming a key testing ground for this model, with Zankore and another Nvidia-backed company, Firmus, both planning large GPU-powered facilities in the country. Across Southeast Asia, developers are planning roughly four times the current data center capacity.
One outstanding question remains: what specifically secures the $3.1 billion loan? Bloomberg reported last…
