Osavul Raises €8.5M Series A to Expand Hybrid Threat Intelligence
An AI startup that spots state-backed attacks before they happen, Osavul, has raised €8.5M in a Series A round. Led by 33N Ventures, the European cybersecurity fund, the funding brings Osavul's total raised to approximately €12m. Balnord, G+D Ventures, and 42CAP also participated.
Osavul, founded in Kyiv in 2022 amidst Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, initially tracked Russian disinformation for Ukrainian security bodies. Now, the company focuses on what it calls hybrid threats—campaigns that blend cyberattacks, sabotage, spying, and online manipulation.
Their AI scans public and private data for early signs of attack, mapping those signals to a client’s staff, sites, and suppliers to predict potential targets. Human analysts verify each report, and the system can operate on clients' servers for enhanced security and data privacy.
Osavul serves state, defense, and security bodies in over ten countries, including the UK, Germany, Poland, and the US, and works closely with NATO. They also plan to expand sales to energy, transport, ports, and banks while continuing their state work.
"Hybrid attacks are no longer a government problem alone," said Dmytro Plieshakov, Osavul’s co-founder and CEO.
Plieshakov, along with Dmyto Bilash, the company's chief business development officer, founded Osavul after successfully building and selling another company together.
The fresh capital will be used to enhance AI capabilities, expand the sales team, and enter new markets.
"Adversaries operate across information, cyber, and physical channels simultaneously; most security tools are still siloed," noted Carlos Alberto Silva, managing partner at 33N Ventures.
