The Series B funding round, led by Intel Capital, In-Q-Tel, and ETF Partners, is the largest ever raised by a Dutch deeptech company and the largest private investment in a dedicated quantum-processor company globally. The previous record holder was another European quantum scale-up, with a smaller Series B round this week.
Founded in July 2021 by Matthijs Rijlaarsdam (CEO) and Dr Alessandro Bruno (CTO), both from QuTech (a joint initiative between TU Delft and TNO), QuantWare has established itself as the world's largest commercial supplier of quantum processors, delivering to over 50 organizations across 20 countries.
What sets QuantWare apart is its innovative VIO architecture, a three-dimensional design that uses stacked chiplet modules connected by ultra-high-fidelity links. This allows for exponential scaling, unlike the lateral routing common in most superconducting qubit systems.
The recent announcement of VIO-40K, capable of 10,000 qubits and up to 40,000 input-output lines, further underscores QuantWare's technological leadership. This milestone is roughly 100x the current commercial state-of-the-art, positioning QuantWare at the forefront of quantum computing development.
