Revolut Opens First Physical Store in Barcelona
Revolut, Europe’s most valuable startup at $75 billion, is set to open its inaugural physical retail location in Barcelona by the end of 2026 or early 2027. This permanent store, named the Revolut Store, will be strategically located near Plaça Catalunya in the heart of the city.
The store aims to employ over 20 individuals and will operate under a lease agreement. Spanish media describe it as similar in scale and design to an Apple Store, featuring a large, high-visibility space designed to showcase the Revolut brand and its product ecosystem. A Revolut spokesperson confirms, "This will not be a temporary pop-up, but a permanent space… a high-visibility, immersive space that will bring our ecosystem to life."
Antoine Le Nel, Revolut’s global marketing director, attributes Barcelona’s selection to its status as both an innovative city and a testing ground for the company: "We chose Barcelona because it has always been our testing ground. It’s an innovative city where we can find both local and international customers."
The Barcelona store is just one aspect of Revolut’s global expansion, which also includes:
- European headquarters in Paris, set to create 400 jobs.
- An upcoming banking license in France, based on the successful UK license obtained in March 2026.
- Growth in Spain, where Barcelona is not only a test market but also houses a significant customer base and the company’s first ATM rollout, with approximately 700 employees already based there.
- Global innovation hub relocation to a premium commercial address at the intersection of Avinguda Diagonal and Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona by summer 2026, supporting plans to employ around 1,000 individuals in Barcelona alone by 2028, with an additional 500 in Madrid.
