Slack launches Slack Code, where teams and AI agents build together

Slack Launches Slack Code: A Collaboration Platform for Teams and AI Agents

Slack introduces Slack Code, a new feature that enables teams to collaborate with AI coding agents directly within the Slack app. This dedicated channel allows teams to write, review, and ship software together, eliminating the need for switching between tools.

Key Features:

  • AI Agent Integration: Users can engage AI agents like Claude, ChatGPT, Devin, and Copilot to assist in coding tasks.
  • Real-Time Collaboration: The entire process happens within Slack, with dedicated tabs for conversations, plans, code diffs, and live previews.
  • Audit Logging: Every step of the coding process is recorded, providing an audit log for future reference.
  • Available on All Plans: Slack Code is free on every Slack plan, with access to partner AI agents available separately.

This launch follows Marc Benioff’s May announcement that coding would be integrated into Slack, and it includes partnerships with Anthropic, Cognition, GitHub, Vercel, and OpenAI, with ChatGPT as a founding partner.

As Cat Wu from Anthropic states, "Slack Code gives teams a dedicated channel where the people, the context, and Claude work together from the start."

However, security is a priority. Before merging code to production, an expert must approve the changes within the channel, ensuring responsible AI usage.
