Spotify's AI DJ Expands to New Markets and Languages
May 8, 2026 - 11:43 am
Spotify has released an expansion of its premium AI DJ feature, now available in four additional languages: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. This move promises to enhance user experiences for listeners across Europe and Brazil.
The AI DJ acts as an interactive radio host, creating personalized playlists based on a user's listening history and preferences. Users can chat with the DJ or request specific songs by talking to or prompting the virtual DJ. Previously available only in Spanish and English, this new expansion brings the feature to more than 75 markets worldwide.
Each DJ voice is tailored to local cultural nuances, ensuring an authentic experience. For example, Maïa is the French DJ, Ben is German, Alex is Italian, and Dani is Brazilian Portuguese. Spotify conducted over 100 auditions to select voices that felt genuine for each market.
Users can access the AI DJ by visiting their Home page or searching for "DJ". They can let the DJ play freely or request specific songs or vibes through text or voice commands. To switch languages, users can open the three-dot menu within the DJ page and choose their preferred language.
The feature was initially launched in 2023, starting with the US and Canada, followed by a gradual expansion to other regions. This latest update marks another step forward in Spotify's mission to revolutionize music discovery and engagement.
As part of its recent series of new features, Spotify has also introduced a "Verified by Spotify" artist badge for human artists and a partnership with Peloton to offer ad-free fitness classes to Premium subscribers.
