Uber has announced the launch of a hotel-booking service, an AI voice assistant, and other new features during its annual Go-Get event in New York City on April 29th. This expansion is a partnership with Expedia Group, integrating travel services for a seamless user experience.

Key Features:

  • Hotel Bookings: Users can book over 700,000 hotels worldwide through the Uber app, enjoying up to 20% discounts on a rotating list of 10,000 hotels and earning 10% back in Uber Credits for members of their Uber One program.
  • AI Voice Assistant: The AI-powered Voice Booking Assistant allows hands-free ride bookings. Praveen Nepalli Naga, Uber's CTO, highlighted how Agentic AI halved the development and launch time compared to traditional methods.
  • Streamlined Booking Process: Users can view hotels on a map or search with personalized filters within the Uber app, seeing prices including taxes and fees. Bookings are confirmed via email to the account address.

Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber's CEO, described Uber's evolution into an all-in-one app by helping users "go, get, and now travel." The new features aim to simplify decision-making by consolidating multiple apps and options.

Additional Updates:

Uber has enhanced in-app experiences for both Uber and Uber Eats with the following features:

  • Travel Mode: Recommends local restaurants and tourist spots, including a "room service" option for forgotten items or deliveries.
  • Uber One International: From June 1st, Uber One members will gain international benefits, such as earning credits on rides abroad and using rewards on return home rides.
  • Shop for Me: Users can request items from any store, with or without the platform, at regular prices.
  • Eats for the Way: Reserve Uber Black or Uber Black SUV to add a coffee, tea, or snack for your ride.
  • One Search: Find everything in one place by searching directly in the app bar, with suggestions across various categories.
