The US International Trade Commission has opened a patent case against 20 companies over the power systems inside AI servers, following a complaint by power-chip maker Vicor.
The Companies Involved
Besides Foxconn, Luxshare and Quanta, the list includes:
- Delta Electronics
- Monolithic Power Systems
- Infineon
- Flex
- Celestica
Vicor seeks to have the products barred from the US and the companies ordered to stop selling them.
Luxshare's Response
In a filing on Saturday, Apple supplier Luxshare stated that it doesn't anticipate significant impacts on its production, operations or results from the probe, as per Bloomberg. The products are still in testing with customers and not in mass production. The commission has not yet ruled on the claims.
The commission will set a target date to conclude the case within 45 days. Any import ban could only take effect after a full hearing and final ruling.
