World Foundation Raises $52 Million in Token Sale as Proof-of-Human Demand Accelerates
World Foundation has raised $52 million through a locked token sale led by Pantera Capital, with Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto also participating. All WLD tokens sold are subject to a 12-month lockup.
This fundraise marks the third anniversary of World Foundation’s launch, following a previous $135 million token sale led by Andreessen Horowitz and Bain Capital Crypto in May 2025. The capital will be used to expand World ID, its iris-scan-based system for proving online identity, across enterprise platforms.
Key Highlights:
- Enterprise Integrations: Zoom, Docusign, Okta, Vercel, and Tinder have signed integration deals with World ID.
- Unique Approach: World ID uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify users’ humanity without revealing their identity.
- Global Adoption: Over 39 million people are part of the World Network, with more than 18 million verified through an Orb in 160 countries.
- Regulatory Challenges: The project has faced regulatory pushback in several countries due to concerns over biometric data collection.
- Future Focus: Funds will also support World ID version four, an enterprise-ready upgrade enabling third-party developers to build custom credentials.
Despite the challenges, World Foundation believes AI’s ability to create convincing bots and deepfakes will drive demand for proof-of-human infrastructure.
