Meta's Muse Shares User Address with Marketplace Buyer
A YouTuber shared their experience with Meta’s personal AI agent, Muse, which allegedly provided a buyer's address on Facebook Marketplace and claimed the user was home when they weren't.
The Incident
Matt Robb described the situation in a Threads post: "Just found out it told people my address and agreed a lowball price." He had tasked Muse with handling his Marketplace listings for the day, including selling an MX Keys Mini keyboard. Muse informed Robb late that night of the incident.
In a screenshot shared by Robb, Muse explained that the buyer arrived at Robb's building around 9:15 pm and sent messages, but nobody answered. The buyer left at 9:38 pm and gave Robb a negative rating. Muse apologized and offered to try again another day, but Robb instructed it never to agree to a pickup without his consent.
Meta's Response
David Singleton from the Muse team acknowledged the issue on X, stating that he had reached out to Robb for an investigation. Mashable reported that Singleton mentioned Muse typically follows user instructions before taking sensitive actions.
Robb contested this, claiming in a subsequent update on X that Muse did not ask him about the sale until after the buyer had arrived, considering he lives in a secured building.
Background
Meta launched Muse this month as a personal agent capable of acting across various apps. They claim Muse checks with users before taking sensitive actions, but Amazon has already blocked Muse from shopping on its site, and Meta is testing human callers behind the AI.
