Agriodor Raises €15M Led by Crédit Mutuel Impact to Scale Its Insect-Repelling Fragrances

A French deeptech startup specializing in olfactory biocontrol, Agriodor has secured €15 million in a funding round led by Crédit Mutuel Impact. The company, founded in 2019 as an INRAE (France’s National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment) spin-off, develops natural volatile organic compound blends that repel pest insects without harming pollinators, soil, or human health.
The Rennes-based company uses a unique approach by targeting insects' olfactory sensitivity: approximately 80% of the world's invasive insect pests rely on smell to locate host plants for feeding, mating, and egg-laying. By analyzing compounds emitted by unattractive plants and replicating them synthetically, Agriodor creates fragrances that confuse or deter specific pest species.
These fragrances can be deployed as attractants (kairomones) or repellents (allomones), or combined into a push-pull strategy using both modes simultaneously. Formulated as granules, they are compatible with existing farm machinery.
Agriodor's most advanced product addresses the green aphid (Myzus persicae), responsible for spreading yellowing disease in sugar beet. The company’s olfactory repellent, marketed as INSIOR® Gr A in partnership with Syngenta, received French regulatory authorization for field trials in March 2026. Trials conducted by Syngenta showed a 40% reduction in aphid populations compared to untreated controls.
Prior funding rounds, including €5 million in May 2023 and €3 million in February 2024, brought Agriodor's total raised capital to approximately €11 million. In December 2025, Le Journal des Entreprises reported the company aiming for €15 million to expand into new crops, markets, and distribution partnerships, particularly targeting the US and Brazil where biocontrol regulations are faster than in Europe.
Agriodor's co-founder and CEO is Alain.
