Apple’s OLED iPad Mini: Coming This October
Apple is preparing an OLED iPad mini for a October release, marking its biggest upgrade to the tablet in half a decade.
The Details:
- Code name: J510
- Display: LTPS OLED panel (60Hz refresh rate)
- Chip: A19 Pro
- Price Point: Potentially higher due to OLED technology
According to sources familiar with the matter, quoted by Bloomberg:
Apple aims to revitalize its iPad mini line with a faster processor and an OLED display. This update comes after a relatively stagnant period for the model since 2021.
The new mini will join other upcoming iPad releases, including:
- Updated entry-level iPad (J581): Expected in early 2027 with a faster processor but no redesign.
- New iPad Air models: Planned for spring 2027 in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes.
- Standard iPad: Will continue using LCD screens for now.
This fall, Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, new Apple Watch models, and updated Macs.
The shift to OLED for the mini could raise its price, despite rising component costs. Currently, the iPad mini starts at $599.
