Gatik Raises $200m for Autonomous Trucking

Gatik has secured $200m in a Series D funding round led by Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies, marking its largest financing to date. The autonomous trucking company, which has already secured over $600m in contracted revenue and completed 85,000 driverless orders, is on a mission to revolutionize the middle mile of freight delivery.

Key Highlights:

  • Largest Round: This is the most significant investment in Gatik’s history, bringing its total funding to approximately $500m since its inception in 2019.
  • Contracted Revenue: Gatik boasts over $600m in signed deals, with a growing backlog.
  • Operational Scope: They currently operate in high-frequency regional networks in Dallas, Fort Worth, Phoenix, and Northwest Arkansas, with plans to expand to thousands of trucks in the coming years.
  • Customers: Walmart was the initial customer, followed by PepsiCo, Kroger, Tyson Foods, and Loblaw.
  • Fleet Expansion: Gatik aims to have over 100 driverless trucks on the road by the end of 2026, with a growing workforce to support this expansion.

Gatik’s Approach:

Gatik focuses on the middle mile of freight delivery, moving goods between distribution centers and stores. Their box trucks, supplied by Isuzu Motors, are equipped with the Gatik Driver, a proprietary driving system. These trucks operate dynamically, with dozens of pick-up and drop-off points, and can navigate surface streets and motorways, handling light rain and snow.

The Future:

With this new funding, Gatik intends to:

  • Deploy more trucks.
  • Onboard more customers from the retail, grocery, and consumer packaged goods sectors.
  • Expand into new markets and cities.
  • Enhance its team with additional engineers and operational staff.
