Google Gemini Gets Major Overhauls with Daily Brief, Neural Expressive Redesign, and Spark AI Agent
Google unveiled significant updates for the Gemini app at I/O 2026, including:
- Daily Brief: A personalized morning digest that summarizes user’s inbox, calendar, and task list, suggesting next steps based on priority. Available to AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in the US.
- Neural Expressive Redesign: A visual overhaul introducing vibrant color palettes, fluid animations, new typography, and haptic feedback. Responses are presented with key information bolded at the top, scrollable for deeper detail, and optionally accompanied by images, videos, timelines, and interactive visualisations. Rolling out on Android, iOS, and the web.
- Gemini Spark: A cloud-based AI agent utilizing the Gemini 3.5 Flash model that proactively handles tasks across Gmail, Docs, and other Google services, even when the user’s device is locked or inactive. Spark will be available as a beta to trusted testers this week and to US-based Google AI Ultra subscribers next week.
With over 900 million monthly active users across more than 230 countries and 70 languages, Gemini is now the most widely available generative AI tool globally.
