Google Launches Workplace AI Agent with Dedicated Email Address
Google has introduced the Gemini agent, which creates coworker agents with their own Workspace accounts, email addresses, calendars, and Drive access. These agents operate under their distinct identity, independent of employee accounts, and every action is logged to an audit trail attributed to the agent, not a person.

Google's Gemini agent provides each coworker agent with:
- A dedicated Workspace account
- Unique email address
- Individual calendar
- Entry in the company directory
- Continuously running work even after the laptop is closed
Every interaction and action is recorded, passing through an AI network firewall. The agent integrates with various platforms, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Chat, Calendar, Microsoft 365, and Slack.
One notable aspect is the absence of personal involvement:
Every action is written to an audit trail attributed to the agent, not a person.
This development raises questions about accountability, as highlighted by the UK regulator, who inquired about liability during the announcement.
Google launched Gemini Enterprise in April, allowing organizations to build and run AI agents. This is the first time they've granted an agent a staff pass, indicating a step towards increased autonomy for AI in the workplace.
The announcement comes as Europe considers regulations like the Cloud and AI Development Act, which could impact Google Cloud's ability to host sensitive public workloads.
While Google provides details on granting agents permissions and integrating them with external systems, the post lacks information on how to revoke these permissions or take the agents offline.
