Huskeys Launches Profiling to Advance Proactive Network Edge Security

For security teams, detecting a threat is only the first step. They must then identify which application is at risk, assess the relationship between the activity and legitimate business operations, and determine actions to mitigate exposure without disrupting users. Huskeys is introducing Profiling to assist organizations in these tasks, providing a dynamic and business-aware view of web applications and APIs. The launch was initially reported by SiliconANGLE.
A New Approach to Security Decisions
Many organizations safeguard their applications using a combination of third-party technologies, including Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), bot management systems, web application firewalls (WAFs), and API security platforms. While these tools address various security aspects, they often operate with a limited view of the application.
Huskeys argues that this fragmentation hinders making informed security decisions, as controls lacking application context may block legitimate traffic while allowing malicious activities to go unnoticed.
Profiling aims to create a more comprehensive understanding of each application by examining endpoint usage, user access, application behavior, existing security controls, and business-critical workflows.
"A profile changes the question from ‘What does this traffic look like?’ to ‘What does this traffic mean to this business?’" - Roy Weisfeld, Co-Founder and CTO of Huskeys.
Hardening as a Continuous Process
Profiling forms the basis of Huskeys’ Hardening Loop, designed to directly link application understanding to security improvements. The process involves:
- Creating a profile of the business path.
- Detecting changes, abuse, or exposure.
- Identifying high-impact fixes.
- Implementing controls after customer approval.
- Observing the impact of the changes.
This approach aims to transform security operations from alert generation to proactive control implementation, ensuring that security controls are tailored to the specific application and its business context.
"Once we understand the application, the intent, and the business path together, security controls can be scoped to the customer instead of relying on generic rules." - Yotam Mazurik, Research Team Lead at Huskeys.
