Jensen Huang Calls AI Jobs Panic ‘Complete Nonsense’

Jensen Huang, the powerful CEO of Nvidia, has dismissed fears about AI replacing human jobs as "complete nonsense." In an interview with Axios, he made a nuanced argument: tasks, not jobs, are changing due to AI.

July 23, 2026

Huang addressed two prevalent concerns: that AI will end humanity and that it will eliminate half of American jobs. Both, he stated, are baseless claims. His core argument revolves around distinguishing between tasks and jobs.

He noted that while certain tasks, like radiologist scan interpretation, can be automated by AI, the job itself—alleviating suffering and guiding patients—remains human-centric. Huang supported this with data: the number of radiologists is increasing as AI allows them to review more scans, contrary to predictions of job loss. Similarly, manufacturing jobs have grown significantly due to the surge in data center construction.

Huang criticized his peers for what he saw as excessive doomsday scenarios, including talk of a singularity and machine consciousness. He urged policymakers not to overreact to such narratives but instead engage with a wide range of scientists to gain a balanced perspective.

His optimistic vision includes a future with a trillion AI agents operating simultaneously. He believes we’re on the cusp of useful robots, perhaps just three to four years away, and while an AI bubble may occur, it’s unlikely in the near future.
