Manus, the AI agent startup founded in China and now based in Singapore, launched Manus 2.0 on Monday, along with Cue, a standalone app for personal AI agents. In Cue, each agent gets its own email address, phone number, wallet, and computer, as outlined in a blog post by the company.

"Manus 2.0 is not a version update. It’s a new architecture, new products, and new capabilities," Manus wrote.

The launch comes after Meta was instructed to cancel its $2 billion acquisition of Manus in late 2025, as reported by Micah Barkley for Bloomberg.

Key Features of Cue:

  • Personalized AI Agents: Agents can send messages, pay within a user-set budget, and complete tasks on their own machines. They can also field user calls and leave summaries within the app.
  • Collaboration: Multiple agents can share group chats with common goals, handing work off to one another. For example, one agent could research venues for a New York launch while another makes a shortlist and drafts a presentation deck.
  • Convenience: Users can scan a QR code at a restaurant for an agent to place an order or reserve a table.

Cue is currently in early access and free to use with an invite code. It's accessible on the web, desktop, and mobile, with iOS support pending App Store review.

Enhancements in Manus 2.0:

  • Cascade System: Manus 2.0 runs on Cascade, a new in-house system that leverages specialized tools only when needed. This results in more efficient use of resources:

    • 23.2% fewer tokens used compared to the previous system
    • 28.2% faster task completion time
    • 32% lower operational cost
  • Automations: Tasks can now be triggered by events in connected services (new emails, Slack messages, calendar events, Notion updates).

  • Cloud Computer: A dedicated environment that keeps running even when a user's laptop is closed.

Manus Studio:

The desktop app is now known as Manus Studio, offering a shared workspace for documents, spreadsheets, slides, websites, code, games, and video:

  • Video Editor: Enables users to swap video clips, images, text, and audio pieces by hand, ideal for product ads, tutorials, and vlogs.
  • Game Dev: Builds games that can be published as web pages and played directly from a link, with multiplayer servers running on Cloud Computers.
  • Remote Control: Allows users to ask Manus to work on their computer remotely while providing live desktop access.

Manus has also expressed its intention to build products specifically for the Chinese market after splitting from Meta, as reported by Bloomberg.
