Meta Commits Another $21 Billion to CoreWeave

April 9, 2026 – 8:31 pm

In short: Meta has committed an additional $21 billion to CoreWeave for dedicated AI cloud capacity running from 2027 through December 2032, bringing the total value of their partnership to approximately $35 billion. This new contract will enable early deployments of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform across multiple sites, focusing on inference workloads rather than training.

From Ethereum Mining to a $35 Billion Meta Relationship

CoreWeave, founded in 2017 as Atlantic Crypto, started as a side project mining Ethereum using graphics processing units (GPUs). After the 2018 cryptocurrency crash and Ethereum’s move to proof-of-stake, the company pivoted to GPU cloud infrastructure in 2019. They went public in March 2025 with a valuation of $23 billion, reporting $5.13 billion in revenue by 2025.

Meta’s Investment

The recent $21 billion expansion makes Meta the most significant commercial partner in CoreWeave’s history. The contract focuses on inference rather than training for Meta’s Llama model family, which is open-weight and freely downloadable. This ensures sustained, low-latency compute across distributed infrastructure to serve Meta’s massive user base across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Meta AI.

The deal includes the first commercial deployments of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform, showcasing Meta’s commitment to AI infrastructure development in 2026, with projected capital expenditure between $115 billion and $135 billion.
