Meta Launches Muse for Small Businesses, Linking Its AI Agent to Shopify
September 29, 2026 - 12:30 pm
Meta is bringing its Muse AI agent to small businesses, allowing owners to connect it to the software they use to run their companies. The new version, Muse for Small Business, integrates with Shopify, Stripe, Canva, and Intuit’s QuickBooks, among others.
The agent can access analytics from Instagram business accounts and Facebook Pages, work with Meta ad accounts, and plug into work apps like Slack, Zoom, Notion, Figma, and Dropbox. Users can also create their own connectors for services not yet supported by Muse.
However, the agent requires owner approval before performing any actions such as posting content, sending messages, or making purchases.
Tom Mulholland, an Iowa grocer, noted the time-saving potential of Muse: "I work about 65 hours a week. I need to free up time for the work that actually makes my business money."
According to Meta, roughly one in three early Muse users has connected it to a business account.
Muse for Small Business builds on the existing Muse personal assistant launched on September 8th, which can shop, book travel, send emails, and make payments in the US and Canada. It has since become the number one free app in both countries.
The move toward small businesses is part of Meta’s strategy to diversify its revenue streams beyond advertising.
Key Takeaways:
- Muse for Small Business connects with Shopify, Slack, QuickBooks, and more.
- AI agent needs owner approval before performing actions on business accounts.
- Move is part of Meta's broader strategy to generate income beyond advertising.
