Meta’s Muse reportedly passes 3 million weekly users and 5m downloads

Meta’s Muse Reports 3 Million Weekly Users and 5 Million Downloads

More than 1 million people prompt Meta’s Muse every day. Meta’s house ads helped the agent reach 5 million downloads faster than ChatGPT, according to Sensor Tower.

Key Figures:

  • More than 3 million users prompt Muse at least once a week.
  • Over 4 million people use Muse weekly.
  • 1 million prompts per day.
  • Reached 5 million downloads in 22 days.

Meta launched Muse in the US three weeks ago. While TNW has not independently verified the figures, internal data reviewed by The Information supports these stats.

Download Growth Boosted by Ads:

Muse’s rapid growth is partly attributed to Meta’s advertising efforts. Starting on September 16th, Meta (read this guide) increased ad spending for Muse, resulting in a 73% jump in downloads that day. Between September 14th and 27th, Muse accounted for up to half of Meta’s daily house ad impressions.

User Experience and Privacy:

When setting up, Muse requests access to a user’s Gmail, calendar, and on a Mac, the entire computer. Meta uses Muse data to train its AI models by default, but they claim to remove personal details first, allowing users to opt out in settings.

Security Concerns:

Shortly after launch, security expert Patrick Wardle discovered a critical flaw in the app, which Meta promptly fixed. A Meta spokesperson emphasized their commitment to "safety and security."

Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping on its site.
