Mark Zuckerberg’s New Project: A Smartphone App to Challenge Prediction Markets

According to the New York Times, on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerberg initiated a project with a small team at Meta to develop a smartphone application designed to compete with prediction market platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi. Codenamed Arena, this app would operate independently of Facebook and Instagram. Meta chose not to comment on the matter.

Arena is set to employ a video-game-style points system initially. The project represents a potential shift in strategy for Meta, entering the competitive landscape of prediction markets with a unique twist.
