Moonshot AI Plans Hong Kong IPO at $30 Billion Valuation

Moonshot AI is preparing to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange within six months with a valuation of over $30 billion. The company achieved significant milestones, including an Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of $300 million in June, up from $200 million in April.

Key Highlights:

  • IPO Progress: Moonshot has distributed a shareholder resolution for the IPO and is finalising a fundraising round that could value the startup at more than $30 billion.
  • Kimi K3 Model: The recent launch of Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter open-weight AI model, surpassing benchmark performances set by Anthropic and OpenAI, boosted the IPO thesis.
  • Hong Kong Listing: The company is dismantling its offshore VIE structure to facilitate a smoother listing under Hong Kong’s revised rules, with CICC and Goldman Sachs reportedly involved as advisors.

Competitive Landscape:

Moonshot aims to be the first Chinese open-weight model to reach a benchmark level matched or exceeded by Anthropic’s Opus 4.8. DeepSeek is also planning an IPO in 2027, setting the stage for a competitive race to establish public market valuation benchmarks for Chinese AI.
