Paris Preventive-Health Startup Lucis Raises $20M Series A Four Months After Seed
Paris-based Lucis, a preventive-health platform pairing blood biomarker testing with an AI-driven companion app, has raised $20 million in Series A funding led by Singular, with participation from General Catalyst, Y Combinator, and angel investors including Céline Lazorthes of Resilience, Manu Lecomte, and backers of the running-coach app Runna.
The round arrives four months after the company’s $8.5 million seed in December 2025, bringing total funding to approximately $28 million. Lucis plans to use the capital to expand into Spain, Germany, and Italy by the end of 2026 and continue developing its AI layer that transforms biomarker data into personalized health guidance. The company declined to disclose its valuation.
Lucis was founded in 2025 by Maxime Berthelot, Baptiste Debever, and Max Guérois, who went through Y Combinator’s 2025 batch. Its model involves:
- A blood draw at a partner laboratory.
- Analysis of more than 110 biomarkers across metabolic, hormonal, cardiovascular, inflammatory, and nutritional systems.
- AI-driven recommendations for nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle adjustments, and follow-up testing, with physician oversight.
This aligns with a growing trend among startups, such as Function Health, Superpower, Forward, and HealthCaters, betting on consumer demand for proactive biomarker monitoring.
Lucis differentiates itself through its AI layer and longitudinal tracking claims: 75% of users improved at least three biomarkers without medication after six months, and over 80% chose to retest. However, these numbers are company-supplied and not independently audited.
The Series A pitch hinges on demonstrating sustained user engagement and measurable biomarker improvements, as well as the macroeconomic case: the World Health Organization estimates 1.8 million avoidable deaths annually in the WHO European Region due to non-communicable diseases, at a cost of $514 billion. Lucis aims to address this gap.
