Point2 Raises $136M to Revolutionize AI’s Wiring
Point2 has raised $136 million in Series B funding to tackle a critical issue in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure: wiring. Its innovative solution, the e-Tube platform, utilizes RF signaling over plastic waveguides, offering significant advantages over traditional copper and optical fiber cables.
Key Features:
- Reach: The e-Tube cables provide 10 times the reach of copper at comparable costs.
- Power Efficiency: They consume 3 times less power than optics.
- Latency: With e-Tube, latency is 1,000 times lower without the risks of failing lasers.
This technology aims to replace both copper and optical fiber inside AI data centers, addressing the growing need for better interconnect solutions as AI systems demand terabit-per-second bandwidth.
Investor Support:
The funding round was led by LB Investment, with strategic participation from Arm and continued support from Maverick Silicon. Notable investors also include Nvidia, Bosch Ventures, Molex, and UMC Capital.
Benefits Over Traditional Cables:
Point2’s e-Tube platform offers several advantages:

- Lightweight: 5x lower weight compared to traditional cables.
- Compact Design: 2x less cable volume, reducing space requirements.
In a recent development, Lumilens raised $700 million for optical interconnects, highlighting the growing interest in light-based solutions. Point2, however, argues that RF technology can deliver similar results at a lower cost, with improved performance and faster speeds.

The funding will be allocated to accelerate the development and commercialization of Point2’s Active RF Cable, near-packaged e-Tube, and co-packaged e-Tube solutions for rack-scale compute systems.
With the massive investments in AI chips, power, and cooling, the data center buildout faces significant challenges. Point2 aims to address these issues by improving interconnect efficiency, potentially saving hundreds of billions of dollars spent on data center infrastructure.
