Brief Overview
INPUT Global has unveiled Voice, a personal branding framework with a unique twist—a published formula for measuring success. The Voice Index scores founders on a scale of 0-100, combining logarithmic median reach with a quality multiplier (0.85-1.10) derived from five key signals.
Frameworks and Their Challenges
Every few months, personal-branding frameworks emerge, often following similar structures with stages, arrows, and recycled advice from a decade ago. While some agencies offer impressive models, they rarely share their formulas publicly, making it hard to verify or critique their methods.
INPUT Global’s Voice Framework
INPUT Global, a communications agency specializing in tech brands, took a different approach with Voice. It offers six stages of personal brand growth culminating in the Voice Index, a numerical representation of a founder’s reach and influence.
Stages:
- Origin
- Foundational Posting
- Distribution
- Author’s Format
- Authority
- Signature Show
The Voice Index: Arithmetic Unveiled
The Voice Index is calculated by multiplying Reach (logarithmically scaled) by Quality.
- Reach: Weighted based on platform volume, with each additional platform contributing 1/5th of its weight.
- Quality: Determined by five signals: Presence (15%), Distribution (25%), Resonance (20%), Authority (25%), and Signature Show (15%).
Note: The January and July versions of the framework have structural differences, and the agency’s scores reflect what they sell. Paid placements contribute to quality calculations.
