Temporal in Talks to Raise $500 Million at $12 Billion Valuation
Temporal Technologies is in discussions to secure approximately $500 million in funding, according to a Bloomberg report on August 19, 2026. This would value the software startup at a substantial $12 billion or more before new investment, with sources close to the negotiations revealing these details to the news agency.
The proposed funding round is not yet finalized, and terms could change. Bloomberg noted that Temporal has not responded to their comments requests.
This potential valuation marks a significant increase from Temporal’s previous figure of $5 billion reached in February of this year during a $300 million funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. If the new round closes at the reported minimum, it will be the second time this year that Temporal’s valuation has doubled.
About Temporal
Temporal offers an open-source orchestration platform that sits beneath applications and ensures multi-step processes do not fail midway. Founded in 2019, the company releases its core platform under an open-source license while selling a managed version called Temporal Cloud.
The technology predates the recent AI boom, allowing developers to write workflows in common programming languages. Temporal’s infrastructure records each step, enabling processes to resume from their last saved point in case of server timeouts or process crashes. It simplifies the management of long-running tasks and aids in cost control, as claimed by the company.
Notable Customers
Temporal’s most prominent customer is OpenAI, according to Bloomberg‘s sources. The startup also collaborates with Replit, an AI coding platform, and Abridge, a health tech firm. Other notable clients include Nordstrom, Block, ADP, and The Washington Post.
The company was founded by Samar Abbas and Maxim Fateev, who previously worked together on Amazon’s Simple Workflow Service and later at Uber to create Cadence, a predecessor to Temporal’s technology.
