TL;DR
AI has made resumes easier to generate but harder to trust, with a 239% surge in AI-generated applications. Ramu Donikana, founder of Invent Artificial, argues the fix is not better screening but verified skill profiles that connect claimed abilities to evidence: technical assessments, project work, and AI-proctored interviews. His platform TheInterviews.ai builds digital profile cards that let employers see why a skill claim is there, not just that it is.
Recruiters used to open a resume to look for a reason to say yes. Now they open it to look for a reason to doubt it. Nearly two-thirds of job candidates use AI in their applications, while 87% of US hiring managers admit to using AI in their hiring process. This results in a double-edged sword where both parties are perceived with equal scrutiny.
AI-generated resumes have surged since the launch of AI chatbots, as employers grapple with overwhelming application volumes. This inevitably sabotages or slows down the hiring process, reported by 67% of US HR leaders. Polished resumes may no longer guarantee genuine expertise, creating a new challenge for businesses competing for specialized talent.
The Dilemma in Recruitment
- Companies can screen thousands of applications with AI-powered software yet many still spend weeks interviewing candidates whose technical abilities remain uncertain until late in the recruitment process.
- Speed has improved but certainty has not.

The Future of Work
Across industries facing persistent skills shortages, including healthcare, manufacturing, and hospitality, recruitment is gradually becoming more about determining who can demonstrate the capabilities the role actually demands. Pressure to make that distinction is only growing as AI reshapes the workforce: 22% of today’s jobs will be transformed by 2030.
Ramu Donikana’s Perspective
Ramu Donikana, founder of Invent Artificial, believes the debate has focused on the wrong problem. "The hiring crisis isn’t because AI exists," he argues. "It’s because we still expect a resume to prove somebody’s skills." He suggests that "AI should help us verify talent, not simply help people write better applications."
Generative AI has democratized resume writing. Candidates who once struggled to present their experience can now create professional-looking applications tailored to almost any vacancy. Donikana welcomes this accessibility but believes employers have underestimated how dramatically it changes the value of a traditional resume: "Everybody can generate a resume within seconds according to the job requirement," he says. "Some people may not have those skills, but the resume can still look like a perfect match."
