Voicemod Launches Key Pocket: Voice Changing for Phones and Consoles
Voicemod has introduced Key Pocket, a MagSafe device that brings real-time voice changing and soundboards to phones, consoles, and social apps without the need for a PC. It is currently on sale in the United States, with a European release following soon.
Since August 2nd, Article 50 of the AI Act has required providers of systems generating synthetic audio to mark their output as such. Voicemod’s home market in Spain already adheres to this regulation.
Key Pocket attaches to phones via MagSafe and features:
- An LED wheel
- Six programmable trigger buttons
- A mute key
- Support for both wired and Bluetooth headsets
- USB-C charging
It also supports PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Meta Quest, accessing these consoles through the controller’s headphone jack.
Voicemod boasts over 200 original voices, 76,000 community-created ones, and 800,000 community sounds and memes in its catalog. The company, based in Valencia, Spain, raised €14.5 million in 2023 and is known for its ethical AI approach.
While the announcement avoids explicit reference to the AI Act, Voicemod must comply with the regulation given its target market.
