Coder Launches Agent Relay with SpaceXAI
Coder has announced Agent Relay, a self-hosted execution environment that allows Cursor’s cloud agents to run within a customer’s own infrastructure, with SpaceXAI as the launch partner and the product currently in private preview.
What’s unique? Cursor continues to handle inference and planning, keeping them responsible as an ICT third-party provider under the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act. The focus is on moving the execution of tools, not the models, with tool calls happening on the customer’s machines while Cursor runs the agent loop.
Target Audience: Agent Relay is aimed at banks, defense agencies, and government institutions, overcoming a key deployment hurdle in these sectors.
Key Considerations:
- DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act): While the deployment model changes, the EU regulations for financial entities still apply, focusing on contracts and provider relationships.
- Self-Hosting Advantages: It addresses security concerns by keeping source code and secrets within the bank’s control, enhancing auditability.
- Paperwork: The challenge lies in ensuring compliance documentation survives any changes, particularly with ownership shifts, as seen with SpaceX’s acquisition of Cursor.
