Station F and Anthropic: The AI Boom and In-Person Connections
Station F’s director, Roxanne Varza, and Aiden Blake, head of startup sales EMEA at Anthropic, discuss the impact of AI on startups and the resurgence of in-person interactions.
“What’s really interesting is we’re seeing more and more people coming since the ‘AI boom’. I think actually a lot of teams are really embracing physical presence,” Varza noted.
According to Blake, while online selling has become easier, trust building still happens best in person. This sentiment was shared on a panel at Wave by Vento in Turin.
Key Points:
- AI enables startup founders to work from anywhere, but many are choosing to collaborate in physical spaces like Station F.
- Station F's F/ai program, powered by partners like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Mistral AI, requires hybrid teams to visit the campus at specific points in their journey.
- Two-thirds of the current F/ai cohort is non-French, with origins from Asia, Stockholm, the UK, and Poland.
- Proximity facilitates relationships, access to capital, and learning from peers, according to Varza and Blake.
- Even as remote work gains acceptance, many startups are prioritizing in-person interactions for team bonding and knowledge sharing.
