Zendesk CEO Tom Eggemeier: Meta’s Muse Saved $3,105 in Five Days

Zendesk's chief executive, Tom Eggemeier, shares a surprising story on the TNW Podcast about how Meta’s Muse cut his family's bills by $3,105 in just five days. He attributes this significant savings to AI technology, specifically Muse, which he believes will revolutionize the way companies manage customer support.

Eggemeier, who has a diverse background in private equity, contact center software, and law, emphasizes Zendesk's shift towards pricing based on resolution rather than seats. The company aims to leverage AI agents that resolve cases, charging customers only when these agents are used.

By the end of 2026, Zendesk expects to generate approximately $400 million in AI revenue, a remarkable growth from almost zero two years prior. This success is attributed to AI agents like those offered by Meta's Muse, which handle over 50% of Zendesk tickets, with some customers achieving automation rates as high as 80-90%.

In his interview with Cristian Dina at HumanX in Amsterdam, Eggemeier discussed:

  • The potential for personal AI agents to dominate interactions within the next two years.
  • His belief that while AI may replace some jobs, governments and companies should focus on retraining people to work alongside it.
  • His optimism about humans still being essential in the future, particularly in customer support.
